before you book a cheap driving school, remember:

There are a lot of options to choose from, some of which are cheaper than others. Cheap schools may make some unrealistic promises, and take shortcuts to getting your license. They may even intentionally prolong your time with them, to increase their revenue. Rather than taking a risk with a cheap driving school, choose an affordable option that will provide you with real value and skills where you can be confident about the services you receive.

Ask if they offer a free Keys2Drive lesson, which is an initiative run by the federal government. It's aim is to teach learner drivers how to find their own way, and teach them how to learn effectively and get the most out of their driving. It is not a traditional 1 on 1 lesson, and requires a parent or supervisor to be there with the learner.

Cheap driving schools cut corners to provide services in the easiest or quickest way, or don't have features that you would have from a reputable school. These features include dual control pedals or a modern car. Some instructors may have several other jobs, so they are not passionate or determined to help you drive the right way, keep talking over phone or taking booking while you are with them and should be learning from your instructor, sometimes have another learner driver sitting behind while you are driving or choose the route of your driving so that another student could be picked up. They do all these to save time because the fees they charge are cheaper than others, so they don't concentrate on teaching you the right way or take responsibility, they just need the money.

Make an informed choice and consider whether the driving school offers essential features at a high quality, has a good reputation, and leaves its customers satisfied.

Hi, my name is Shoheli. I am a proud mum of two beautiful boys, had run small businesses and worked as administration staff. I have also been working as a volunteer community development worker, where I work with the youth and people from various backgrounds.

Through my community work, I had the opportunity to see the trauma on the families and community due to serious injuries and the death toll on the road. I believe that young P-platers are not well prepared for solo driving and they should be driving the safest car in the house. I want to increase awareness around this, and help them become safe drivers.

I've been working as a driving instructor for 2 years now and I'm very proud of what I do. There is no compromise to my methodical teachings which start from sitting properly on the driver seat, to driving safely all the time. If you are not sitting properly then your body will be in an uncomfortable position, and you can't comfortably focus on driving. Also, the safe gap between your chest and the steering wheel can save you from serious injury. There are so many small tips about driving which together can create a safe driver. 

My goal is not like many other instructors to just help you pass the test, but rather to teach you how to drive safely. I say to my students: don't stress about the test, because if you learn the proper way to drive then the tester will be impressed with your driving skills and be pleased to give you the license.
